Position Overview

We are currently seeking a detail-oriented Registered Nurse (RN) with strong editorial and proofreading experience to join our team as a Clinical Editor/Proofer. In this remote, contract-based role, you will review and refine NYS Dispute Resolution and External Review determinations to ensure clarity, compliance, and clinical accuracy.

Schedule

• Remote (New York State residents only)
• Full-time: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• 6-month contract with potential for extension based on performance and client demand

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough reviews of pre-final dispute determinations
• Edit responses for clinical, grammatical, and mathematical accuracy
• Ensure all case documents meet formatting, compliance, and quality standards
• Collaborate with internal teams to enhance product accuracy and workflow
• Track errors, analyze trends, and provide feedback for process improvements
• Participate in staff huddles and provide technical assistance and mentoring as needed

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's in Nursing or graduation from an accredited RN training program
• Additional coursework or training in writing, editing, or proofreading strongly preferred

Licensure

• Active NY State RN license (required)

Experience

• Minimum 2 years in acute care (medicine, surgery, or special care units)
• 1–3 years in utilization review or related clinical documentation roles
• Demonstrated experience in editing or writing (writing sample required)

Technical Skills

• Strong proficiency in electronic medical records and coding/charting
• Advanced knowledge of grammar, proofreading, and mathematical validation

Soft Skills

• Exceptional attention to detail
• Strong collaboration and communication skills
• Ability to mentor staff and support quality assurance processes
